Green Name Athlete of the Year
The annual KTCCCA awards have been released and several Male athletes earned first
and second team all state. Justin Green was name athlete of the year for his efforts
during the season and his impressive regional and state meet performances. In addition
to Green the following athletes recieved first team honors: Jeremy Webb (LJ), Lewis
Dodson (400M and 4x400), Chisom Omenyinma (200M and 4x200). Members of the
4x100 (Fugate, Webb, Story, Graham), 4x200 (Story, Graham, Omenyinma, Whitlock)
and 4x400 (Booker, Dodson, Green, Graham) also earned first team recognition. And
last but not least, for the second straight year yours truly was named coach of the year
for class AAA, an honor shared by the entire coaching staff. Special thanks to all of our
coaches (Guess, Wells, Green, Nason, Miller, Old School, Calbert) for the outstanding job
they did this season.
Green was also named Sprinter of the Year by KyTrackXC.Com which earned him a
sweep of the indoor and outdoor SOY. For more information on the award go to

Coming Soon: Improved all time marks, school records update (outdoor marks are
close and I have added indoor school records). If any of the alumni know of some

Any athlete interested in purchasing a state championship ring should meet in the health
room Thursday at 12:00. Both ordering and sizing will take place in the meeting that
should not last longer than 30 min.

State Champions Once Again
The boys team became the 28th squad in Male track history to win the state
championship this weekend at the University of Louisville. The team was led by
individual state champions Justin Green (100, 400, 200) and Jeremy Webb (LJ). The
4x100 relay (Fugate, Webb, Story, Graham) and 4x400 (Dodson, Graham, Booker,
Green) also took home state championship medals. The 4x100 relay team once again
established a school record in the event running 42.31. The team also had three
runner up performances by Lewis Dodson (400M), Chisom Omenyinma (200M) and
Steve Mize (1600M). The team also established new school records in the 4x100 and
4x200 relays. The 4x200 relay (Whitlock, Graham, Story, Omenyinma) ran under the
state record but was beat by cross town rival Central.

Back to Back Regional Championships for the Boys
The boys team successfully defended their Region 2 Championship this past weekend at
St. X. The squad tallied 150 points well ahead of runner up North Hardin's 118 and third
place St. Xavier. The team was led by first place finishes in the 100 (Green), 200
(Green), 400 (Green), 1600 (Mize), SP (Jenkins), LJ (Webb), 4x100 (Fugate, Webb,
Story, Graham), 4x200 (Whitlock, Omenyinma, Story, Graham) and 4x400 Relay
(Omenyinma, Graham, Booker, Green). The girls team ended the day in 5th place
behind powers North Hardin and Butler. The ladies were led by strong relay
performances in the 4x800, 4x200, 4x100 and 4x400. Both teams will be well
represented at this weekends Class AAA State Championship. The meet will be held at
UL Cardinal Park with competition set to begin at 5:00 on both Friday and Saturday.

Meet of Champions and St. Xavier Invitational
The boys and girls team competed in Tuesdays Area 3 Meet of Champions and
produced several top marks. The boys team started the meet with first place finishes in
the SMR (Jackson, Whitlock, Omenyinma, Brown) and the 4x800 (Mize, McCollum,
Pesyan and Dodson). The 4x800 relay established the fastest time at Male in over 8
years and currently ranks #3 in the state behind regional rivals North Hardin and St.
Xavier. Lewis Dodson continued running well in the 400M with a personal best time of
49.46 currently ranking him #2 in the state and #1 in Class AAA.
This weekend the boys and girls team will compete at the 1st annual St. Xavier
Invitational at St. X. The meet will feature several top teams and give the squads
another opportunity to compete and the site of this years Class AAA Region 2
Championships held on Saturday May 24th.

Male Boys and Fern Creek Girls Take Dual Titles
The boys team from Male outpointed Fern Creek 86 to 37 while the girls team from Fern
Creek edged the Lady Bulldogs 73 to 62. The boys team was led by the solid
performances of Lewis Dodsons first sub-50 400M (49.68) and Justin Greens two first
places finishes in the 100M and 200M. Other strong performances were established by
Steve Mize (1600), Kieren Story (110HH), Stewart Brown (300IH) and Chris Pesyan
(800). The Fern Creek throwers took home the "Buddha" trophy for their thrashing of
the Male throwers in the 1st annual "Fat Mans Relay".
Next up for the boys and girls team will be the Metro Meet of Champions held at Male
High School on Tuesday. Competition is set to begin in the field events at 5:00 and
running events at 5:30. The meet will feature Louisville's top eight individuals in each
event.

Back to Back at Jeffersonville
As the weather and competition heat up the boys team has responded well. Winning
their second consecutive invitational and defending their 2007 title at the Jeffersonville
Invitational the Bulldogs continued posting strong marks. The team was led with first
place finishes by Justin Green (100), Chisom Omenyinma (200), Jeremy Webb (LJ),
Lewis Dodson (400), 4x100 (Smith, Green, Story, Graham) and 4x400 (Green,
Dodson, Omenyinma, Story). Season best marks were established by Kyle Jenkins and
Robbie Graham. Jenkins throw of 47'3" currently ranks him as the top thrower in the
region. Robbie Graham finished 2nd overall in the 100M with a season and personal
best time of 11.0 ranks him 2nd in the region.
Next up for the boys and girls teams will be the Male vs. Fern Creek Dual meet at Male
on Friday night. The meet will be the first ever dual meet between the two schools and
will feature a different order of events. Dinner will be provided to both teams following
the meet.

Boys Win Eastern Relays
The boys team won its second consecutive Eastern Relays on Saturday with
outstanding performances by Justin Green and Tony Branch. The duo ended the day
with two top finishes each in their specialties. Green was first in both the 100 and 200
with season best and state leading marks in each. Branch ended the day with season
best and team leading marks in the Long Jump and High Jump. The team continued
rolling along behind strong relay performances claiming first place finishes in the 4x100,
4x200 and 4x400. The 4x100 (Story, Smith, Whitlock,Graham) and 4x200 (Smith,
Story, Omenyinma, Graham) was even more impressive considering each member on
both relays are only 10th graders. The boys and girls teams will compete today in the
third of four Master Schedule Meets.
Next up for the boys program will be the Jeffersonville Invitational across the bridge in
Jeffersonville, IN. Competition is set to begin with field events at 6:00. The next
competition for the girls program will be next Tuesday at St. Xavier.

Master Schedule #2 and Eastern Relays
Yesterday marked the second of four Master Schedule Meets. The meet was held at
Central High School Stadium and produced several outstanding performances. With
the weather finally cooperating the boys and girls teams had the chance to put up
some strong marks.
This weekend (Friday and Saturday) many top athletes will be competing at the Eastern
Relays. The meet will again be held at UL Cardinal Stadium with Friday competition
slated to begin at 5:00 and Saturday at 10:00. Friday night will feature a SMR (100,
100, 200, 400), DMR (1200, 400, 800, 1600) and 2000M steeple. This weekends meet
will again feature many of the states top teams and several strong squads from
surrounding states. This will be one of the first major challenges for the boys and girls
squads this season as they head into the main part of the schedule.

Bulldog Classic
The weather was not as cooperative for the high school division as it was for the
collegiate athletes during the morning but several outstanding performances were
established by Male athletes. The boys team was led by Kyle Jenkins impressive 46'7"
throw in the SP good for second place. The sprint crew continued to show their depth
with 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place finishes in the 100M and a 2-3 finish in the 200M. The "B"
4x100 relay took advantage of a mishap on the first exchange by the "A" team and
won the event in 44.20. The boys 4x200 relay team of Fugate, Green, Graham and
Omenyinma held of a strong Manual squad with a season best time of 1:30.07. Lewis
Dodson continued his impressive season with a first place finish and near personal best
time of 50.36 in the 400M. The boys team ended up in second place overall behind rival
St. Xavier. Next up for the boys and girls teams will be the Master Schedule Meet at
Central High School on Tuesday.

Male Invitational
The boys showed their depth in last nights Male Invitational with strong relay efforts and
1-2 finishes by Male squads in the Sprint Medley and 4x400 Relays. The boys took
home first place finishes in several events including the 4x800, 4x100, 200M, LJ, HJ and
PV. The boys throwers continued to make great progress with each athlete establishing
personal best marks in the shot put. The boys team finished the night with 187.5
points well ahead of second place Trinity. The girls team also produced some strong
individual marks while finishing fourth overall behind the first pace tie between Butler and
Central and third place Assumption.
Next up for the squads will be the Bulldog Classic this Saturday at UL. Athletes helping
out will receive a free shirt and must be at UL track by 8:30. The HS competition is set
to begin at 1:00 following the collegiate competition.

Male Invitational and Bulldog Classic
With spring break behind us the track and field season gets into full swing with
Wednesdays Male Invitational and Saturdays Bulldog Classic. The Male Invitational will
be held tomorrow at Male High School at 4:30 and will feature some of the states top
athletes. Scheduled to compete are Central, Eastern, Butler,Fern Creek, Male, South
Oldham, North Oldham, Presentation, Trinity and Assumption.

On Saturday the Bulldog Classic, one of the best meets in the state, will take place at the
University of Louisville. The meet is scheduled to begin around 1:00 following the
completion of the collegiate section which is set to begin at 8:00. Athletes, competing
or not, are expected to be at the meet to help no later than 10:00. Any parent
interested in helping at the meet should contact one of the coaches.

Male Master Schedule Meet #1 and Spring Break
Yesterday marked the first of three Master Schedule Meets the boys and girls team will
attend. The competition produced some outstanding marks considering the cool
temperatures. Justin Green led the boys team with first place finishes in the 400M and
200M while running strong legs on the 4x200 and 4x400 Relay. The boys hurdlers
(Kieren Story, Stewart Brown and Ryan Frazier) continued making progress with their
1-2-3 sweep of the 300IH. In the field Tony Branch cleared 6'0" in the HJ and Kyle
Jenkins threw 41'7" in SP for team leading marks.
With spring break getting underway next week the boys team will practice Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00-12:00. Several athletes will compete on April
12th at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. Information on the Ben Davis meet will be
available early next week.

KCD, Lenny Lyles, and the Week Ahead
The first official outdoor meet of the year, held at KCD, went off with some strong early
season marks. Sophomores Robbie Graham, Kieren Story, and Stewart Brown each
established solid marks in events they had not previously run. Graham ran 52.30 in his
first attempt at an open 400M while Story and Brown each competed in the 300IH for
the first time finishing 1-2 in the event. The boys 4x400 relay finished in first with solid
legs by Story, Brown, Velvin Smith, and Nehemiah Reese.
Saturdays Lenny Lyles Invitational at Central High School had the girls team ending the
day in 2nd place with great performances across the board and solid relay efforts in the
4x800 (4th place), 4x200 (2nd), 4x100 (3rd)), and 4x400(2nd). The Bulldogs swept
the 400M with first place finishes by Starsha Fant and Lewis Dodson. Dodson's effort
(50.32) in the event was both a meet record and state leading performance. The boys
4x200 (Fugate, Omenyinma, Green, Graham) and 4x400 (Story, Green, Booker,
Dodson) both set meet records and established state leading marks. Steve Mize led the
distance crew with a personal best performance of 4:39.89 good for 4th place. One of
the biggest surprises of the day took place in the 200M when Chi Chi Omenyinma's
brother (Chism) finished in first place with a state leading time of 23.06.
This week both boys and girls teams will be competing on Tuesday (April 1st) at Male
High School in the first of the Master Schedule Meets. The meet is set to begin at 4:30
and will feature athletes from Male, Central, Eastern, Brown, CAL and Portland Christian.

Week #1
This week marks the beginning of the 2008 Outdoor Season. The boys and girls teams
will compete Thursday at KCD and Saturday at Central High School. The meet on
Thursday will feature several teams from Louisville with competition set to begin at 4:30.
The bus will leave Male High School at 3:00 and return following the final event. On
Saturday the Varsity teams will compete at the Lenny Lyles Invitational at Central High
School. The competition will feature many of the top teams in the state and will be an
outstanding opportunity to put up some early season marks.

The Weeks Ahead
With spring football getting underway many of the kids will have double duty with both
track and football practice. Boys participating in spring football will complete the track
workout and then go to spring ball.
This weekend the boys and girls teams will participate in the Central Relays, a pre-season
scrimmage which will allow coaches the opportunity to see most of their kids in action.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 at Central High School. Athletes will need to be
at Central HS no later than 8:10 to begin warming up for their races. Meet entries will
be posted outside the locker room and announced on Wednesday.
The first regular meet of the outdoor season will take place March 27th at KCD followed
by the Lenny Lyles Invitational for the Varsity boys and girls team at Central High
School on March 29th. Entries for both meets will be posted outside the locker room
and online a few days before.

Mason-Dixon Games
The boys and girls teams will compete this weekend (March 8th) at the Mason-Dixon
Games in Broadbent Arena. Competition is set to begin for Class AAA at 5:00 PM. Each
team is allowed one competitor per each event in the meet considered by many to be
the Indoor State Championship.

UK Invitational
Several boys competed unattached at this past weekends UK Invitational. The first
class meet featured three US #1 marks and saw several state leading marks by Male
athletes. Justin Green (60M), Lewis Dodson (400M) and Jeremy Webb (LJ) each ended
the day with state leading marks in their events. The 4x400 relay (Fugate, Green,
Booker, Dodson) also established an indoor best and state leading 3:27.19 good for a
6th place finish
Next up for the boys and girls team will be the Mason-Dixon Games at Broadbent Arena
in Louisville. Entries will be posted early next week for what is considered by many to be
the indoor state championship. Last season the boys ended in second place, just three
points behind St. Xavier.
Cookie Dough: Orders will be delivered on Tuesday March 4th at 12:30. Athletes will
be given the orders to deliver on that date.

KTCCCA Indoor Results
The boys and girls squads were in action this today in Maysville, KY. The meet took
place in the new Jockey Arena which produced several impressive performances by
Louisville Male athletes. The girls team was led by impressive performances by Starsha
Fant (400), Diamond Tedford (55M, 400M) and Ashley Jones (55M, 400M). The boys
saw several athletes competing for the first time this season post strong early season
marks in the 400, 800 and 1600. 2008 season best marks were established by Jeremy
Webb in the 55M and Long Jump.

KTCCCA Indoor
The boys and girls teams will be competing at this weekends KTCCCA Indoor Meet at
Mason County in Maysville. The bus is scheduled to leave Male HS at 6:45 AM with a
second pick-up at Garden Ridge off Blankenbaker at 7:00 AM. The first event is
scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM and should be completed approximately 4:00.

IU Indoor
Several athletes competed unattached at Indiana University yesterday afternoon
posting top indoor performances. The team was led by Justin Greens state leading
mark in the 60M (6.98). Green also established a personal best time in the 400M good
for second place, and was third overall in the 200M (23.19). Also competing and
posting season best marks were Jeremy Fugate( 60M, 400M, 200M), Teveon Golden
(60M,200M), Stewart Brown (400M, 200M) , Kieren Story (400M, 200M), Ryan
Saunders (60M, 200M), and Tony Booker (400M, 200M). Bookers 400M time of 53.79
was his personal best mark for that distance. Next up for some athletes will be the
KTCCCA Indoor Meet at Mason County High School.

Many athletes will be competing for the first time this season at the KTCCCA Indoor

and girls teams will be taking a bus which will be leaving Male HS around 6:45 AM.

Fundraiser Money and Fan Gear Orders Due
The money for the Fundraiser is due today and can be turned into either Coach Neuss
or Coach Holman. Once the orders have been tallied and sorted the cookies will be
handed to the kids for delivery.
Anyone interested in placing an order for fan gear needs to have that money turned
into Marina Gonzalez ASAP for the first order. A second order will be processed in March.
IU Indoor Meet
A small group of boys will be competing unattached this weekend at the University of
Indiana in Bloomington. Slated to run are Justin Green, Jeremy Fugate, Kieren Story,
Robbie Graham and Stewart Brown. We are still waiting to hear back on Ryan
Saunders, Tony Booker and Teveon Golden.
Next Up: KTCCCA Indoor meet at Mason County High School 2/16. The boys and
girls teams will take a select group of athletes to compete at the new facility. Entries will
be posted early next week.
Updated: Boys All-Time Top Marks-we have been going through old newspaper articles
and working on meets from the 60's-80's. I am still working on converting many of the
races from yards to meters and will have them posted soon.

Wildcat Classic
The boys and girls teams posted some strong early season marks at Saturdays Wildcat
Classic held at the University of Kentuckys Nutter Field. The boys squad was led by
second place finishes in the 60M (Justin Green) and 400M (Lewis Dodson) and a first
place finish in the 4x400 Relay (Story, Green, Booker, and Dodson). The girls were led
by Laura Callen (1600M), Ashely Jones (60M) and Starsha Fant (400M) while the 4x400
Relay team finished second overall with a strong early season time of 4:34.67

Parent Meeting
The boys and girls teams will have a parent meeting next Tuesday 1/22 at 6:30.
During the meeting we will introduce the coaching staff, cover the season, discuss the
fundraiser, and answer any questions. Also during this time Mrs. Gonzalez will have
order forms for team apparel and discuss parent help during the meets.
Next Meet: UK Wildcat Invitational entries will be posted early next week. We will be
taking a bus to and from the competition.

Less Than a Month Away
The 2008 track and field season is less than one month away. The boys and girls had a
sign-up meeting today after school and were given a general information packet. The
packet included general team info, winter workouts and a tentative 2008 schedule. The
first day of practice will be held on January 8th which is the first day back from winter
break. A parent meeting is scheduled for January 22nd at 6:30 in the Alumni Room.
The first indoor meet will be on January 26th at the University of Kentucky's indoor
track, Nutter Fieldhouse.

Sign-up Meeting
The boys and girls team will have a sign-up meeting on Thursday December 13th at
2:30. During the meeting the coaches will discuss the upcoming season and distribute
winter break workouts. The first practice is scheduled for January 8th. The first
scheduled meet is the Wildcat Classic at UK on January 26th.
